This travelogue is a research project for the FREN552 Montpellier – Louisville WEX (work exchange) program at the University of Louisville and in conjunction with Sister Cities of Louisville, Inc. Hopefully, it provides not only a candid and informative glimpse into the processes involved and my experiences with traveling, working and/or studying abroad as an American in France, but also a glance at Louisville for French students who wish to participate in the exchange in our city. In broader terms, I hope that this collection of information will be useful to professors, students, professionals, and travel enthusiasts from any domain who seek first-hand anecdotes before launching their own adventures, or simply for those who are perfectly content with desk chair travel.
